StarCom1 Kart Racing radio system - Reliable communication in motorsport
The StarCom1 Kart Racing radio system provides reliable radio communication between the kart and the service team. Its basic setup includes professional-grade cable guides that are designed with connectors and electrical wiring compatible with common professional Peltor intercom standards, ensuring full Peltor compatibility. This guarantees long term usability and allows for easy transfer of the radio intercom system to different racing classes.
The StarCom1 Kart Racing radio system provides reliable radio communication between the kart and the service team.
Its basic setup includes professional-grade cable guides that are designed with connectors and electrical wiring compatible with common professional Peltor intercom standards, ensuring full Peltor compatibility. This guarantees long-term usability and allows for easy transfer of the radio intercom system to different racing classes.
The control and radio technology is compactly housed within the front handlebar cover. The push-to-talk (PTT) button and helmet headset cable are securely integrated into the steering wheel's base frame.
A high strength cable harness links the central radio base module, the PTT button, and the Peltor compatible headset connector.
The cable primarily consists of a Y shaped harness with cable segments approximately 25 to 30 cm long. Its three part, modular design allows for straightforward installation in existing through holes.
In its basic configuration, the racing kart is optimally prepared for radio communication. It utilizes the StarCom LP-4502 radio, an exceptionally robust device offering excellent protection against strong vibrations and splashes. For the European market, this radio system is available as a registration and license-free 500 mW version. A more powerful 4 watt transmission power version is offered for export markets. Various radio specific connectors are also available, such as those for Kenwood and Motorola.
The following illustration depicts the vehicle equipment, which includes the wiring harness, PTT button, Peltor compatible installation coupling socket, and PMR446 radio.
The headset's design mirrors established professional racing variants, utilizing the same active and passive core components. Its robust plug connections between the helmet and coupling feature professional Nexus/Amphenol chassis with beryllium-coated contact surfaces. This connector design ensures a reliable mechanical and electrical connection, even after years of use. The helmet-side spiral cable incorporates a helix coil, guaranteeing the spiral's permanent retraction. The end of this cable has multi-functional contacts, allowing built-in loudspeakers, earphone coupling cables, adhesive microphones for full-face helmets, or gooseneck microphones to be connected to its connector strip.
The in ear headsets included in this complete set originate from formula racing and utilize high performance sound transducers from hearing aid acoustics.
The compact transducers, with a mere 2.50 mm diameter, allow for pressure free placement within the ear canal using interchangeable foam earpieces. These earpieces are inexpensive, standard items.
Note: The configuration shown above illustrates the functional principle and allows for individual expansion. All cables are shielded, feature internal Kevlar reinforcement, and resist acids, alkalis, and oils. Their versatility enables use in applications ranging from racing karts to Formula cars and beyond. For custom cable configurations, please contact us.
