Radio / telephone wiring harness for racing use
This wiring harness connects radio and telephone systems with racing helmets and control buttons. It is available in two basic versions and distinguishes between the connection of radio devices and smartphones. The illustration below shows an Android / iOS smartphone wiring harness. It features a Peltor compatible connector to which classic racing headsets from Peltor®, Stilo, and other manufacturers can be connected.
ATTENTION: Only helmet headsets with in ears work in smartphone mode.
The audio output power of the smartphone is too low to adequately drive conventional loudspeaker installations. In ears ensure clear and intelligible audio reproduction even in loud vehicles. In ears and helmet speakers work equally well with radio devices.
The control buttons have two connection couplings for the call/answer button, microphone on/off, etc. Depending on the control element, e.g., button, latching switch, or button/switch combination, the microphone can be permanently switched on or off in smartphone mode or, as is usual with radio systems, only temporarily activated via a button.
The overall functionality is comparable to a dedicated telephone line and a switchable microphone. The radio system / carrier system is the public telephone network, which is generally well developed at racetracks.
Special solutions, e.g., the integration of existing headset installations with loudspeakers, are possible on request.
