Cables, Plugs, Sockets, and Couplings in General Aviation
A key component of electrical connections in general aviation involves axially latching plug and coupling combinations. In addition to these, a wide variety of manufacturer-specific plug connections exist.
A common standard is the so called PJ standard. The PJ-055 standard defines a plug with a diameter of 6.30 mm, utilized for the transmission of audio signals to the headphones. For the transmission of microphone signals, a plug with a diameter of 5.23 mm is employed, conforming to the PJ-068 plug standard.
