The setup includes a Motorola® Fug 850 HFG, an inline chest PTT, and a system helmet with an integrated audio unit. The high functional density of modern system helmets complicates the internal installation of flexible cable connections. StarCom1 addresses this issue by routing a cable connection along the outside of the helmet shell. Consequently, any modern system helmet can be retrofitted with a professional audio unit.
The audio installation kit for helmets features selective dynamic microphone technology. This enables the StarCom1 helmet headset to be connected directly to existing public safety (BOS) radio systems using a splash-proof inline PTT button. Upon disconnection of the BOS radio from the helmet audio unit at the shoulder-side connector, the transmit and receive audio functions are automatically routed to the radio's integrated loudspeaker and microphone. Consequently, the user remains communicatively active at all times, whether wearing a helmet or not.
